Frequently asked questions about WAP
What is WAP?
WAP stands for “Wireless Application Protocol” and refers to the standard for wireless connection to specially designed Internet content. Wireless connection can only be effected from a WAP-enabled phone that displays content from the Net using a special WAP browser. Files such as logos and ring tones can also be downloaded using WAP.
What is a WAP push?
When, as our customer, you order a logo, screensaver or ring tone, a so-called WAP push will be sent to your phone in the form of a text message. The push provides a link to your network operator who has the logo, screensaver or ring tone ready for you to download.
What do I need to link to WAP pages?
To view WAP pages on a mobile phone, you will need a WAP-enabled handset. What’s more, your phone must also be correctly configured. Additional information can be found below.
What settings must I activate to be able to use WAP on my phone?
In order to access the items you ordered, your phone must be correctly configured for WAP. If your phone is not currently configured, you can request the settings from your network operator or service provider.
Most network operators offer an automatic WAP configuration that can be sent via the Internet. If in doubt, visit your network operators’ homepage or call your service provider for customer support.
NB: Due to the great diversity of products and the many models supported, we regret that AUDI AG cannot provide assistance in configuring your mobile phone.
Error messages and problems
I received the error message "Invalid GPRS access point".
What does this mean?
Your phone is incorrectly configured for WAP. You need to request the appropriate configuration from your network operator/service provider.
I received the error message "Connection lost". What do I do now?
The connection to your network operator may be interrupted while accessing your ordered items. Simply make a new attempt to retrieve your download.
I received the error message "Unfortunately your mobile phone is unable to display the requested file." What do I do now?
Some of the downloads available are not compatible with all mobile phones. For this reason, the server automatically determines your handset model and lets you know if your phone can handle the requested download.
Downloading videos is taking a very long time. What should I do?
Please bear in mind that because of the size of video files, they can take some time to download. Please be patient.
I’m not receiving any WAP Push messages. What do I do?
Please check that your mobile is configured to receive WAP Pushes from ALL senders. Often the default setting on mobile phones only allows you to receive Pushes from your network operator and its partners. Keep in mind that on some makes of phone, WAP Push messages are stored separately and not in your SMS inbox.
